DO GOODERS: Celebs Hit The 2012 DO SOMETHING AWARDS Blue Carpet

It was a night for do-gooders as VH1 hosted the 2012 Do Something Awards at Barker Hangar in Los Angeles last night.  Pics of KeKe Palmer, Draya Michelle, Nicole Murphy, Ne-Yo and plenty more hitting the blue carpet below...
The awards, which have been an annual event since 2007, honor those under 25 who are trying to make a difference in the world.  But you don't have to be under 25 to cop an award.  Do Something Award nominees and winners "represent the pivotal "do-ers" in their field, cause, or issue," according to the website.
Actress/singer KeKe Palmer kept it chic in a simple white knee-length form fitting dress and a pair of black pumps for the occasion.  Loves her.
Nickelodeon's "How To Rock!" star, Cymphonique Miller, hit the carpet with her dad Master P.
will.i.am may still be looking for his missing car, but he found time to hit the carpet for a good cause.
Nick Cannon was there to receive his award.

"Basketball Wives: LA" star Draya hit the carpet in a flowing white dipped hem dress and strappy heels.  Not loving the shoes with this dress honestly, but her new hair color is cute.
VH1's "Hollywood Exes" stopped by the carpet and looked fabulous while doing so.  Mayte Garcia, Nicole Murphy, and Sheree Fletcher all held it down nicely.
Nicole just looks ridiculously amazing these days.
Flo Rida hit the carpet before performing on the awards.  Of course, his girlfriend Melyssa Ford was his date.
Interesting.
Miami Heat champ Chris Bosh received an award last night and had his wife Adrienne on his arm:
Someone is feeling extra colorful.
Nice.
Model Alek Wek was there to receive an award.
And Ne-Yo and Tommy Davidson snapped a few pics.
The 2012 Do Something Awards air Tuesday, Augst 21st on VH1 at 9p/8c.

Recap: Oprah's Next Chapter Interview with Rihanna

Written By: Amaris-Camille

From the Age of 16 till Now we have watched Pop Star Rihanna go from Reggae Sensation to crossing over on not only the R&B Charts but the Pop Charts as well With Hit AFTER Hit. I know its not fair to keep bringing back up that Horrendous night With now Ex-Boyfriend Chris Brown, But it seems like THAT situation is what gave us the woman who sat in front of our eyes last night. I remember seeing the Diane Sawyer Interview and realizing it was TOO soon even back in '09 I just knew that it was TOO SOON for her to talk about a situation Even she had not figured out yet. Everyone could guess that the next step was to put her on this pedestal and praise this 24 year old Rockstar. As we all Know Rihanna sat down with Oprah for a 40-minute intimate interview and I can say as an observer this was the most REAL I've ever seen Robyn!!!!

She did the interview in a Super BIG 5 bedroom house in her Hometown that we now know was the House she bought her mom. Something she has always wanted to do.

I'll tell you my take from the interview, Last night you saw someone who was completely ready to Let it all Out and just let the world know that she is very Normal. (No matter how much we want to think she isn't) Sometimes you get people who do interviews and they are so STIFF. Oprah has a way of making you realize everything that you are doing but still making you comfortable enough to want to tell her everything. My favorite part of the whole interview was when you got to see what most fans don't get to see and that's Rihanna be Vulnerable when she spoke on Lessons learned from her Grandma (and i'll have to say her gran gran Dolly was a wise woman).

She even made me realize that You can't go around holding a grudge about Everything because it will get you Nowhere. Something that I've taken into DEEP consideration.

So in case You Missed it Check out a Recap Below:

Rihanna on what she learned from her Grandma Dolly

She taught me a lot about forgiveness. She taught me a lot about loving my enemies. She me a lot about spirituality, faith, strength as a woman and the one thing she wants me to do is to marry someone that loves me more than I love them. Because a woman will always give even more than they need to, we’re selfless beings, it’s maternal and with husbands they’ll only meet you halfway if they love you a little more.

Rihanna on Her Fans and What she’d like for them to know

I put a lot of importance in my relationship with my fans. I want them to feel comfortable knowing that I have flaws as well. I want them to know those flaws because I am afraid of the pedestal that comes with fame and being a celebrity so I keep myself as close to the ground as possible. I don’t ever want to be above them [and for them to think] that because they are fans that I am not one of them and they are not one of us. We are all people. We all have a purpose.

Rihanna on if she considers herself a role model

No because of what society has made that title. It has become a title of perfection and that is something that no one can achieve.

Rihanna on the Chris Brown domestic violence incident

I was hurt the most. Nobody felt what I felt. I was hurt because it happened to me. It happened to me in front of the world. It was embarrassing, it was humiliating. It was hurtful. It’s not easy. I lost my best friend. Everything I knew switched in a night and I couldn’t control that. I had to deal with that and it’s not easy for me to understand or interpret and it’s not easy for me to interpret on camera with the world watching. So it’s hard for me to pay attention to my mind and figuring things out because now it became a circus and I felt protective. I felt like the only person that they hate right now is him and it was a weird confusing space to be in. Cause’ As angry as I was, as hurt and betrayed, I felt that he made that mistake because he needed help. Who’s going to help him? Nobody is going to say, ‘he needs help’. Everyone is going to say he’s a monster without looking at the source. I was more concerned about him.

On her current relationship with Chris Brown

We’ve been working on our friendship again and now we are very close friends. We’ve built our trust again. We love each other and we will probably always will. That’s not anything you can change or shut off if you’ve ever been in love.

If she’s seeing Chris Brown again

No, he’s in a relationship of his own.  I’m single but we have maintained a close friendship ever since the restraining order has been dropped. We just worked on it little by little but it’s not easy

On the rumors that she recently saw him in St. Tropez

Yes I did. We went to a mutual friend’s party on a yacht.  It’s awkward [when I see him] because I still love him. My stomach drops and I have to maintain this poker face and not let it get to the outer part of me. I have to maintain that and suppress it and interpret it and understand it. And understand that that’s not going to go  away. That is peaceful. When you don’t understand those feelings you can make a lot of mistakes

On if she thinks Chris Brown has a true love for her

Absolutely. I think he was the love of my life. He was my first love and I see that he loved me the same way. We were very young and very spontaneous. We ran free. We ran wild. We were falling in love and going at a really rapid pace that we forgot about ourselves as individuals. We forgot about our personal discipline. We needed something to completely shut that off and show us what we were missing, what we were taking for granted, and if we really care about each other, care about each other’s happiness so it’s not even about us being together. I truly love him so the main thing for me is that he’s at peace. I’m not at peace if he’s a little unhappy or he’s still lonely. I care. It actually matters that he finds that peace.

On if she’s forgiven Chris

I have forgiven him. It took me a long time. I was angry for a long time. I felt like this is not my fault, this is not me doing this but still I had to worry.  I was resentful. I had a grudge. I was dark and it was coming out in my music and in my clothes, it was coming out in my attitude and I didn’t like that feeling. It was heavy.

[To get over it] I had to repair my relationship with my dad. I was so angry at him. I was angry about a lot of things from my childhood and I couldn’t separate him as a husband from him as a father. I felt like if he was a bad husband, he was a bad father. I witnessed a lot as a child in my household. [He was] violent. My family broke up because of his addiction. I remember one day thinking, ‘Why can’t I come to a place where I let someone in. Why can’t I love’. I’d get to a place [with guys] where I really liked them and then I’d change. I would never talk to them again and I wanted to know why.  And I wanted to know ‘what is my idea of what’s suppose to happen’?  It was because I didn’t have a relationship with my father anymore and so I wasn’t able to connect with a man past a certain point.

The minute I was able to realize that my father was probably one of the best fathers in the world…. Like he taught me everything, and as awful as he was to my mom at times, it didn’t compare to how great he was as a father. And I had to come to terms with that and I was able to close that gap with him and all kinds of emotions starting happening after that. All kinds of things started making sense. I thought I hated Chris and I realized it was love that was tarnished. It was ugly, it was angry, it was inflamed, it was tainted and I realized that, I had to forgive him because I cared about him still. And the minute I did that, I started living again. [Once I realized there was a connection between the two [my relationship with my father and my relationship with Chris], I had to go to the source.

I can’t tell people how to feel about it. They are entitled to be angry but I have forgiven him.

On what it would take to find a man like the one ‘Grandma Dolly’ thinks she should have

I don’t put too much [thought] into it. I know what I want. I know if I had it my way, I want a man that loves me, cherishes me, values me.. But they have to know my value in order to value me. They have to know my worth and they can only know my worth if I know my worth. I want him to respect me but I want fun times.

I just want to laugh. I have everything else, all I want is a partner in crime to enjoy it with me.

Evelyn Lozada Releases Statement: ‘Domestic Violence Is Not Okay’, 911 Call Released

It’s been a whirlwind of misfortune for reality show couple Evelyn Lozada and Chad Ochocinco, after the two were involved in a domestic violence incident that left a 3″ gash on Evelyn’s forehead and resulted in a trip to the clink for Chad followed by getting dropped from his NFL team. To make matters worse, their upcoming reality show was scrapped by VH1, Chad was axed from HBO’s Hard Knocks and throughout all the drama, Evelyn suffered the loss of her brother-in-law who lost his battle with cancer.
Although the two have been mute, since the incident, Evelyn released a statement earlier today that stated she was very disappointed in Chad for not taking responsibility for his actions:
It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday. I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I’m grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time.
Over at NecoleBitchie.com she addressed things that I feel strongly the same about!!!! Check it out Below:

Evelyn is right. What happened between her and Chad is not okay and he should take full responsibility for it, if he did indeed head butted her in a moment of frustration.
But there is a bigger lesson in all of this, especially for VH1 who decided to get some morals and pull the show (but were so quick to promote the Basketball Wives’ fights in the trailers to get the ratings up for each season) . We can’t go around acting like it’s alright to jump on tables on national television, throw bottles at folks and be ready to slap up former friends and act like that’s okay. Violence is violence and it’s unfortunate that all of this had to happen but maybe the bigger lesson in all of this is that we have to stop promoting this type of stuff like because the moment something like this happens, it almost contradicts what you’ve stood for. Maybe this will signal some type of change within that network..
Peep what Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless had to say about the situation on ESPN below:

Hat Girls: Teyana Taylor, Bria Murphy & Rihanna Hit Greystones

LA party girls Bria Murphy and Teyana Taylor hit the town last night for a fun night out.  The two, were spotted looking fly in fitted caps and snap backs as they made their way out of Greystone Manor Nightclub in West Hollywood.  Although it’s becoming normal to see women in the club wearing hats and sneakers nowadays, Teyana says that it wasn’t always that way.  She recently toldComplex magazine:
When I came in the game, it wasn’t okay to be a girl and wear sneakers and hats and streetwear. They called me gay. Now the tomboy thing, it’s sexy. Rihanna and Rita Ora are fly and sexy. I’m happy I was able to pave that way. I love seeing our artists dressed like that. You ain’t gay if you throw on sneakers and a hat. Nobody can take that away from me and say, “Oh, she didn’t start that trend.” They all know. I’ve always been about this life and mixing kicks with high fashion on some ghetto chic sh-t’
Ironically, Rihanna also threw on a cap and some sneakers for a night out at Greystones last night.

Former Atlanta Hawks player Dan Roundfield drowned off the coast of Aruba.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Dan Roundfield, an NBA veteran who had three consecutive All-Star seasons, has drowned off the Caribbean island of Aruba while helping his wife as she struggled in rough water. He was 59.
Roundfield, who played 11 professional seasons with Indiana, Atlanta, Detroit and Washington, had been swimming with his wife, Bernie, off the southeastern tip of Aruba on Monday when they became caught in rough water beyond a protected reef area, said John Larmonie, a police spokesman on the southern Caribbean island.
The former All Star was apparently swept away in a strong current as he tried to help his struggling wife, Larmonie said. Police, firefighters, the Coast Guard and volunteers searched for him, finding his body about 90 minutes later, trapped by rocks underwater.
“It’s a real tragedy,” Larmonie said. “He drowned saving his wife.”
Bernie Roundfield, who said she was helped to safety by a U.S. tourist snorkeling nearby, said in an interview that the couple, who live in the Atlanta area, had come to the island with their two grandchildren.
The couple had visited Aruba nearly 20 times and were caught off guard by the strong currents at the swimming area known as “Baby Beach,” even though they had been there many times in the past, she said.
“We always go to Baby Beach, and we go there because it’s so safe,” she told The Associated Press. “It happened so fast.”
Bernie Roundfield was treated for shock after the incident and Larmonie said the government had provided a social worker to assist her and other family members as they remained on the island Tuesday.

Julia Roundfield, a sister-in-law of the athlete, who lives in Detroit, said members of the former athlete’s extended family were still trying to get details of the incident.
“He was a real sweet guy,” Julia Roundfield said. “He really was a sweetheart.”
His wife said he will be remembered as a family man.
“People knew he was a great husband, a great dad, a great grandfather,” Bernie Roundfield said. “They knew he would help his friends or any other person who needed help.”
A 6-foot-8 forward-center out of Detroit, Roundfield played for Central Michigan in college and started his pro career with Indiana, which was then in the ABA. He played 11 professional seasons. Besides the Pacers, he had stints with Atlanta, Detroit and Washington and averaged 15.2 point per game for his NBA career.
Roundfield was selected as an All-Star in 1980, 1981 and 1982, when he was playing for the Hawks.
Friends and colleagues mourned an athlete that they said was known for physical play but a gentle nature. “Danny represented the Hawks with dignity and pride both on and off the court, and this is a tragic loss for us all,” team General Manager Danny Ferry said in a statement.
Former Hawks teammate Dominique Wilkins called Roundfield the “most honest and upfront person I knew,” in a statement released by the team. “He taught me how to be a professional and took me under his wing,” he said. “My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, I will truly miss him.”
In addition to his wife, Roundfield is survived by his sons Christopher and Corey and two grandchildren. Funeral arrangements had not been finalized.
Larmonie said Baby Beach is generally safe but can be deceptive. The water can get treacherous out beyond the reef in rough weather.
“It was a really bad day to go outside the reef,” he said.
In August 2011, an American tourist, Gary Giordano of Gaithersburg, Maryland, reported that his companion, Robyn Gardner of Frederick, Maryland, disappeared while snorkeling near Baby Beach. Police detained Giordano on suspicion of involvement in her death but he was released for lack of evidence and returned to the U.S.
